I looked out into the yard
And four lemons had fallen
Manna from Lemon Heaven
On to the grass.
Hidden in the shrubs
Half eaten by the grubs
And not a lemon tree in sight.
Who could have done this?
Who could have been?
And speckled this yellow across the green.
Where could this fruit, from on high have fell?
To polka dot my lawn under a such a spell.
What joy! What joy has come to me!
The offerings of a divine lemon tree!
What wonder has befell mine eyes,
With this most shocking citrus surprise!
With delight I will collect this fruit
For which I have not paid
And lovingly, tenderly, carbonatingly so
Turn life’s lemons in-to lemonade!
